[ Pihole ][ 4.1.0.0 ]Multi-platform, network-wide ad blocker
#21
I have a strange issue when browsing with my DNS set to Pihole on my N5550. On some pages, for example when I click a link on google.com which redirects to googleadservices, I get a certificate warning showing the site has a certificate issued to N16000.thecus.com by dummy_ca.thecus.com

Any idea what is causing this?

PS can you update to v4? thnx

because access to googleaddservice is blocked by Pihole.
You have to add http://www.googleadservices.com domain in the white list to be able to access theese pages

Ah I see Smile That certificate is the one that is configured on my https://N5550. The N16000 threw me off.

Thanks.

Thanks, but unfortunately it is now broken: neither dnsmasq nor Pihole-FTL will start. Looks like they're using the "service" command which can't be found on my NAS:

Code:
pihole restartdns
[✗] /usr/local/bin/pihole: line 127: service: command not found

...and the download links to the old version 3.x don't work either

Cheers,
Bunts

Done.

Now I get a different error:

Code:
 pihole restartdns
pihole-FTL is stopped.
/raid/data/module/Pihole/shell/module.rc: line 211: /usr/bin/pihole-FTL: No such file or directory

I think with V4 they replaced the dnsmasq binary with pyhole-FTL, no?

I'm on OS7...

In the meantime, can you re-enable the download links for V3.1.0.0 ?

yes, in V4 Pihole-FTL is actually a modded dnsmasq.
i re-enabled 3.1.0.0

you will have this error when the module is disabled in Thecus App Center or is stopped from module WebUI, as all the symlink are removed in this case

Can you detail exactly what happend when you install the module ? What is the status in Module WebUI ? Both Pihole WEB and pihole-FTL are stopped ? If you go to Application Control >> Start Module what happend ?

All dependencies are installed with the correct version.
I re-installed and re-started the module several times.
After installation, the moduke status page says:
Pihole WEB (pid 27726) is running. pihole-FTL is stopped.
and I can access the PiHole WebUI with port 7020. The status indicator on the WebUI says:
DNS service not running FTL offline

When starting pi-holeFTL on the module page, it redirects me to a page with port 1983, which doesn't have a listener.

Here's the output of pihole-FTL debug:
Code:
